Steps to become a licensed Mortgage Loan Originator

1) Register for an NMLS Account and get your NMLS number (free)  

2. Complete your 20 hour pre-licensure education course ($250)

3. Complete any required state specific courses (0 to 10 hours)
($20 to $100)
 Not all states require additional state-specific education

4. Register for your MLO License exam and then take and pass it ($110)

5. Apply for your MLO license through NMLS
($150 to $400 depending on state)

6. Get electronically fingerprinted

7. Wait for the State to approve your license, at which point your license will be approved-inactive

8. Notify us when your license is approved and we will have you sponsored and your license will become active.

Once you have completed your pre-liecsning education (PE) you will sign up foto take the SAFE licensing exam through the NMLS wbeiste where you rigstered tto get your NMLS number.
